Airtime & Connectivity Services

To perfectly complement our range of business hardware and software portfolio Scan has added a comprehensive range of airtime and connectivity contract offerings to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for your organisation. Including leased line and wide area network (WAN) and cellular (4G / 5G) options, we believe we can address all your business requirements.

Leased Line Connectivity

To get the best performance from your network you want dedicated internet access service that goes beyond regular business broadband, with guaranteed upload and download speeds. Deploying a BTnet Leased Line is like having your very own pipe, capable of carrying enormous amounts of data, and as you don’t share the bandwidth, you get complete control over it, allowing you to flex your bandwidth in line with seasonal demands and only pay for what you need. You can either upgrade your existing BTnet circuit, over the air, to enjoy more speed with little or no increased costs; or arrange a new installation. All our services are done in conjunction with our partner Scancom - a BT Authorised Partner - giving you ultimate peace of mind.

UNLIMITED USAGE

There is no fair usage policy; you can use as much data as you like - no limits.

With symmetric speed choices ranging from 2Mbps to 30Mbps (Ethernet First Mile - EFM), 35Mbps (Generic Ethernet Access – GEA), and 10Gbps (Ethernet fibre), plus resilience options, a leased line is ideal for businesses where internet access is critical. And ultra-low latency makes it the natural choice for financial trading applications and top-quality video conferencing. BTnet leased line internet services have direct private peering relationships with many cloud service providers including Microsoft (including Office 365) and Amazon (AWS), which means that cloud application traffic can be handled directly with the cloud provider, without needing to route over the public internet. This helps provide high capacity and low latency connections to key cloud applications.

Wide Area Network Connectivity

A Wide Area Network (WAN) is used when your business needs to connect two or more sites together so they can work as one. A WAN is an IP-based network that extends over two or more sites and it can include everything from your internal communications structure - your computer systems, your internet and intranet and phone systems.

BT WAN connectivity can be provided in two ways - firstly as a P2P or leased line network that connects sites within a radius of 45km. It provides a WAN communications path from your premises, through a carrier network such as a managed network service, to a remote network at your satellite sites. As you don’t share your bandwidth with anyone else, it ensures you have a faster and more consistent service than a standard broadband or fibre connection. It also gives you a greater degree of security and resilience by utilising direct fibre connections providing connectivity between your head office and local satellite offices, data centres, or warehouses. Additionally it offers the lowest possible latency as data is delivered from one point to another quickly, and responses to user queries are almost instant. A choice of bandwidths from 10Mbps-1.6Tbps are available.

Secondly, if your satellite or branch offices are dotted across the country or abroad, an Ethernet VPN WAN can address this. An Ethernet VPN WAN allows you to develop interconnected hubs across much greater distances, effectively shrinking the distance between your operations so they can operate as one. With a latency target of less than 10 milliseconds, commands are effectively real-time, so is ideal for businesses where a split-second time lag can be critical such as financial trading. You can choose the amount of bandwidth you need, from 200Kbps to 1Gbps, and once you have the system in place it’s easy to upgrade as your business grows, adding users to the network without impacting the performance of the rest of the system.

Cellular Connectivity

When there is no wireless network available 4G and 5G communications networks are becoming the obvious choice to connect edge devices back into the central network. Working with our partners, Scancom, EE, O2, Vodafone, and Scan are able to provide SIM cards for almost any environment.

Our options include mobile 5G connectivity for taxi or rail infrastructures including support for M2M (machine to machine) communication, rural 4G solutions with booster antennas to provide coverage for businesses in out-of-town areas and resilient SIM cards for use in edge AI or IoT deployments where devices may be subject to adverse weather conditions or be unattended for extended periods of times.

We also recognise that data usage may not always be consistent, so our 4G and 5G SIM solutions can be entirely bespoke allowing you to choose a fixed data rate per month (100MB to unlimited) or variable data rates (for example, 25GB for the first three months then drop to 500MB per month). Data contracts usually cover 60 months but we can also cater for short term or temporary deployments where necessary - even down to hours if needed.
