VTEC VR Tennis powered by Scan and Tennis Esports

Scan Computers (Scan) is proud to announce its partnership with Virtual Tennis Esports Centers (VTEC) and Tennis Esports to deliver a virtual reality tennis learning experience, redefining how students learn, compete and participate in tennis.

VTEC is a leading online program for schools designed to teach tennis and esports using engaging Virtual Reality (VR). VTEC offers a comprehensive platform that brings tennis to the classroom, uses a mixture of videos and quizzes reinforced with the world's most realistic VR tennis experience, Tennis Esports. A simple low-cost licence allows schools, colleges and universities to introduce students to a lifelong sport in an interactive fashion, combing the physical activity of VR with cutting edge technology, making tennis accessible, engaging and educational for students of all ages, levels and abilities.

VTEC’s innovative program also merges tennis training with STEM-based learning, teaching students to collect, visualise, and interpret tennis data, helping to enhance their analytical and technical data science skills. Group activities also help build teamwork, leadership, communication, and adaptability through collaborative event planning, whilst students are able to benefit from hands-on experience in event management, budgeting, and marketing by organising VR tennis events. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to compete in regular regional and global competitions, representing their schools in what may become an Olympic Esport.

VTEC was developed by ex-professional tennis players who worked closely with the VR developers of Tennis Esports to perfect the blend of online learning and VR practice. Scan has extensive expertise in designing and building bespoke desktop PCs to power immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences, through its in-house 3XS Systems division. This, in combination with Scan’s status as a leading supplier into the UK education sector, led to its selection as a key partner for VTEC in delivering its innovative learning solution to the UK’s Schools, Colleges, Universities and the wider Sports Community.

“At VTEC, our mission is to make tennis more accessible and engaging for all students, regardless of background or ability. Partnering with Scan and Tennis Esports allows us to deliver a world-first solution that inspires the next generation to learn, think, and play differently and that is extremely exciting” Alexandra Nancarrow, ex-professional tennis player and Director of VTEC

Paul Coyle, esports sales lead at Scan said, ‘This hybrid solution bridges physical education with esports and includes a lesson plan that allows schools to seamlessly introduce as part of the curricular, rather than as enrichment. This will accelerate the schools’ understanding and experience the benefits of esports and the significant increase in engagement from students. The coaching facilitation also allows our wider Sports Community to deliver complimentary services into their client base, enhancing their provision in this space.’
