As a growing number of homes contain more than one computer, their users must find ways to network them. The primary purpose for creating a home network tends to be to provide Internet access to all computers within the house. There are other good reasons, however. These include enabling LAN gaming, data backups from one machine to another and the sharing of music within the home.

TP-LINK 5GHz 300Mbps 13dBi Outdoor Wireless Networking CPE/Customer-Premises Equipment is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used for multiple camera connections I used a pair of these, instead of running a costly duct 200m to my barn to run cable or fibre. I set them up within an hour, mounted them on short stubby masts screwed to the house and the barn and aligned them by eye. I set the distance to 1km and i did NOT use the lockout (which would lock it solely for use as a point to point device) so consequently each end also operates as a local outdoor access point, which is great for the garden and when working in the barn.. narrow profile means it is completely unaffected by wind.. even 60mph gusts.. but there are two shortcomings.. the first is that it would be better with more 'cable' straps to secure it.. the round shape against a round mast means it needs to be strapped tight to the mast, which i achieved by using an additional two chunky cable ties.. the second is that the RJ45 port is 10/100 which cuts the transmission rate from cabled devices, to 1/3rd of the advertised 300mbps.. it would be better to have a 10/100/1000 port, so that the full transmission speeds could be achieved.. however I've not had any issues running 3 concurrent HD camera feeds across it and plan to add more cameras.. and even a fibre internet connection is going to max out at about 40mbps upload, if i was viewing them remotely (I don't have fibre YET...) I am planning on using another pair of these to share the internet with a neighbour who lives about 1KM away on the other side of a couple of fields, as I cannot get fibre to my property, even though it goes via a pole just 30m from the wall of my house, in my front garden...unless I pay the network provider something like £11k
