To celebrate the launch of the new GTX1080, Scan Computers will be rolling out the green carpet and holding an exclusive gaming event with our friends at NVIDIA. On Saturday 4th June, you’ll be able to experience the thrill of Virtual Reality, see some impressive product demos and compete for incredible prizes in our gaming tournaments. There will be guest speakers from NVIDIA, free food and drink, a Cosplay competition, special offers and a free Scan goodie bag for the first 250 visitors!
Experience Mind-Blowing Virtual Reality
Our friends from NVIDIA will be giving you the chance to enjoy an unforgettable VR demo in our custom-made VR booths. Experience the thrill of immersive VR and try out this game-changing technology for yourself. Demonstrations will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Please note that customers aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult.
Gaming Tournaments
We’ve got a fantastic selection of gaming tournaments on the day so get involved and bring your A-game to win some awesome prizes.
In our Overwatch tournament teams of 6 will compete in head to head knockout style best of 3 games. The game type for the event is; Escort: The attacking team is tasked with escorting a payload to a certain delivery point before time runs out, while the defending team must stop them. The payload vehicle moves along a fixed track when any player on the attacking team is close to it. Teams will consist of 6 people, these teams will be randomly selected on the day, however friends may team together but in no more than groups of 3 in the interest of fairness.
In our Project Cars tournament players will compete using the latest in VR racing simulation equipment, on a set track with a set car to set the fastest lap time. Only clean laps will count, times where player cuts any corners will not count. Each player will get 3 laps or 10 minutes (whichever comes first) and will only be allowed 1 play through to set times. Customers may be allowed to go on the racer again if there are no queues, however only the first 3 laps they set will count, any goes after this will be purely free play.
In our Rocket League Tournament players will compete in 5 minute timed matches, person leading at the end will progress Xbox 360 controllers to be used. If any players signs up and then cannot be reached, their opponent will progress. Tournament will be head to head knockout, with any odds numbers being corrected by giving byes in the first round. Winning semi finalists will progress to the final which will be a best of 3 match of the same rules. Losing semi finalists will play in a 3rd place playoff under the same rules as the final.
Cosplay Competition
SCAN will be holding a Cosplay competition! To enter all you have to do is come dressed up as a character from your favourite game for a chance to win some great prizes.
FREE Food and Drink
The first 250 visitors will receive a voucher for some delicious free food and drink from our friends at Artisam Catering. We’ll also have our very own ice cream van, so let’s hope for some sunshine!
