How to Properly Package Your Item for Return

Proper packaging is crucial to ensure your item is protected during shipping. If you no longer have the original packaging, follow these guidelines to safely package both large and small items. If you need assistance, feel free to contact our support team here: https://www.scan.co.uk/help

For Large Items (e.g., TVs, Monitors, Speakers)

Protect the Corners

  • Wrap each corner with multiple layers of bubble wrap, especially if there are no corner protectors available. This helps reduce impact during transit.

Remove Detachable Parts

  • If possible, remove any stands or removable parts.
  • Wrap them separately in bubble wrap and place them away from the main item in the box.

Wrap in Bubble Wrap

  • Cover the entire item with multiple layers of bubble wrap. Focus on any protruding parts, like plugs or bolts, and wrap them individually. Position these parts away from the item to avoid damage.

Choose the Right Box

  • Pick a box that’s only slightly larger than the item to minimize movement. Fill any empty spaces with packing paper or bubble wrap to keep the item securely in place. If the box doesn't have any markings, label it with "This Way Up" for proper handling.

Include All Components

  • Make sure to pack any additional parts like remotes or stands securely with the item.

Seal and Label the Box

  • Reinforce the top and bottom of the box with extra tape. If the item is fragile, clearly label it as such. Don’t forget to attach the RMA label with the correct details here. If you don’t have a printer, you can write the RMA number and address on the label.

For Small Items (e.g., Cables, Computer Components)

Prepare the Item

  • Wrap the item fully in bubble wrap to prevent it from moving during transit. For any smaller parts (e.g., cables, adapters), wrap them separately and tape them securely.

Protect Delicate Parts

  • For components like motherboards with CPU socket pins, make sure the CPU cover is attached to the retention bracket for added protection.

Choose the Right Box

  • Select a box just slightly larger than the item to avoid too much movement. Use packing paper, bubble wrap, or foam to fill any gaps and secure the item inside.

Pack Components Together

  • Place the item and any accessories (e.g., I/O shields, mounting brackets) securely in the box. Add extra layers of bubble wrap if needed to prevent shifting.

Seal and Label the Box

  • Tape the top and bottom of the box securely. Print and attach the RMA label with the correct details. If you can’t print the label, you can write the RMA number and address on it.

Important Packaging Tips

Use a Sturdy Box

  • If you’re using a non-original box, make sure it’s in good condition to prevent damage during transit.

Pack Tightly

  • Avoid leaving too much empty space. Fill any gaps with packing materials like bubble wrap or packing peanuts to stabilize the items.

Label Clearly

  • Mark fragile items as "Fragile" and indicate "This Way Up" if necessary.

Return Multiple Items Separately

If you’re returning multiple items, package them as separate parts, just as they were originally supplied. If you’re unsure about anything or encounter any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. Proper packaging is key to ensuring your item arrives safely. Thank you for taking the time to prepare your return!
