What is an NVIDIA Edge AI System?

Powered by embedded NVIDIA Jetson GPU accelerators, an Edge AI system is a solution designed for deploying a trained AI model in the field - or at the edge of the network - for inferencing purposes. Flexibility and resilience are the key factors here, as the environment may be hot, cold, dusty, wet and the device may be left unattended for long periods of time.

Which Edge AI System is right for me?

As AI inferencing takes many forms, it makes sense that a solution designed to perform this function has a modular approach allowing many options to be added for data capture including interfaces for cameras, sensors, microphones; and features for wireless transmission such as 4G or 5G.

The AI Edge systems are powered by the NVIDIA Jetson platform, providing all the performance of GPU workstations, but in an embedded module format. This allows for low power consumption and maximum reliability for systems that may be left unattended for lengthy periods of time. It also ensures that GPU performance can be delivered in very compact devices, making the placement and use of them ultimately flexible.

A modular design allows edge AI systems to cost-effectively provide inferencing functionality with minimal wasted resource. However, it also allows for expansion of GPU capability, interfaces, memory and more by using optional iModule and iDoor ports. The NGC container registry features NVIDIA tuned, tested, certified, and maintained containers for the top deep learning frameworks. This is handy as it means inferencing systems can be upgraded or retrained at the edge with minimal disruption.
