AMD Ryzen 5000 Series status
15/04/21 - Yesterday we received a third shipment of 5900X which has now cleared all pre-orders. As pre-orders are now all fulfilled we will now be closing this FAQ. As new stock arrives it will be listed for sale on the website as per any normal product. We have no plans to accept further pre-orders on AMD CPU stock at this time due to the uncertainty on shipments. We would like to thank all of the customers who waited patiently for their CPU since the launch.
Please note: Pre-order customers can still claim their game code from AMD. Please contact AMD claims with your order information and game code and they will re-validate the code for you.
This will be the last update to this FAQ page.

FAQs
We've put together the most asked questions around the AMD 5000 Series CPU launch. Please have a read though these before contacting our customer services team.
Why do you take full payment for a pre-order?
If we did not charge, there would be a distorted queue as customers would simply register interest. This would give unrealistic forecasts for obvious reasons. Much in the same way as people book concert ticket, or pay for a seat on an airline ; you are paying for a future access to guarantee stock ; a pre-order works in exactly the same way. With the addition of the pre-order promise, you have the choice to be refunded immediately without any penalty.
What happened during the 5000 Series launch?
We went live at 2pm for the launch of the 5000 Series as planned. Demand was extremely high and the launch stock we had sold through extremely quickly making it the fastest selling CPU launch we have ever seen. This was echoed across all of the launch retailers. Unfortunately, due to this extreme demand there were a lot of customers in the basket phase when stock ran out resulting us having to move to pre-orders. We have added FAQs below to try to cover off the questions that we are being asked the most, and will add new FAQs as they arise. We are assured by AMD that stock coming through for the new CPUs will be significant so the wait time for current pre-orders should not be long. We ask that customers try not to contact our customer service team if they are happy to wait for their pre-order so that we can try to help those who wish to cancel or need help with other queries.
I got stuck in the basket. What happened to my order?
Due to the extreme demand there will have been a significant amount of people stuck in the basket at various stages. If you have received and order confirmation email then your transaction has completed. If you have NOT received an order confirmation email then unfortunately your order did not complete. There is a possibility that this could have happened during payment. If this is the case then the transaction will be reversed automatically.
When I purchased the CPU it was showing as ‘IN STOCK’ but now I have had a ‘PRE-ORDER’ notification email. Why is this?
Due to the amount of people trying to by the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs at the same time its possible that the item was showing ‘In Stock’ when you proceeded through to the basket. During that time the product has sold out but we have not been able to notify you clearly of this. For now you will have been put into a first come first served pre-order queue backed by our ‘Pre-order Price Promise’. We are sorry that you have been affected by this. We are currently in the process of developing a queue based checkout process to help minimise the issues we have seen on recent launches where demand has been significantly more than in previous years. Given these events are few and far between we know where to focus our improvements and we're making the needed changes.
If I have been sent a pre-order notification email what are my options?
All pre-orders are backed by our Pre-order Price Promise’. You can see this at the bottom of this FAQ page.
What about if I’ve paid for Next Day Delivery but my CPU is now a pre-order?
The next day delivery is a service provided by DPD and it applies from the point of dispatch. So when your pre-order CPU arrives at Scan we will then dispatch it, normally the same working day, and it will then be delivered the next working day. If you selected a Saturday or Sunday service then delivery will ONLY occur on that day regardless of the day that we dispatch.
What about the free game promotion? Will I get this if I have a pre order?
Currently select AMD 5000 series CPUs come with a free game promotion. This applies to both ‘In Stock’ and ‘Pre-order’ purchases. We can only send your game code when your product dispatches from Scan as it is tied to the product itself. If you receive your product and do not receive a game code via email then please get in touch with us on Live chat or over the phone.
What is my queue position?
We will send out an updated Queue position email each week to let you know your latest position. To go along with this we will also set up a table on this FAQ page showing our current pre-order numbers and expected shipment due dates. This will also be updated weekly or whenever we receive a shipment.
I didn’t get a CPU or a pre-order. When can I buy one?
The demand has been so overwhelming that we have taken a maximum quantity of pre-orders we feel we can fulfil. Once we have confirmation from AMD of the shipment schedule and have seen the pre-order numbers come down we will look to allow some more pre-orders to be placed along with clear ETAs for when we would expect these to ship. You can keep a watch on the FAQ page. We are assured by AMD themselves that there will be plenty of stock arriving over the coming weeks so wait times shouldn’t be too long.
